This study will provide the students for a close reading of the text of Paul’s letter to Roman Christians with particular attention to the historic and contemporary function of the letter in the life of the church. This course is a detailed exegesis of the entire book of Romans, examining the most commented on book in the New Testament in the light of its historical, rhetorical, sociological, theological, and ethical contexts. This study stresses on the theology of Paul, with consideration of the distinctive emphases of the epistle: Paul’s teaching on Judaism, salvation history, the power of sin, righteousness, the Holy Spirit, and the future of Israel.
